dryad of the night fantasy

“Dryad of Night” Fantasy Photography by Leo Ch

It’s finally October: a month full of awe, wonder, and mystery. For centuries, this month has been considered a time where the spiritual realm meets with ours. That’s why Halloween is celebrated around now! It’s a time of fantasy—of goblins and witches, and fairies and ghosts…So whether you like to celebrate the spooky or fantastical, we’ve rounded up our favorite folktale-inspired products for the season!

In this month of fantasy and fairytales, how about returning to the old-fashioned medium of printed books? “Puffin in Bloom” Fairytale Book Collection is a beautifully-packaged set of stories, with darling cover art by Rifle Paper Co., an artist we love here at Genue! The set includes four classic titles such as “Little Women”, “Heidi”, and “Anne of Green Gables”, each with its own dainty floral binding. While this would make an excellent gift for a little one in your life, these iconic tales can be enjoyed by all ages!

If you’re throwing a Halloween party, how about investing in some one-of-a-kind fantastical décor? We’re absolutely in love with these handmade fairy garden torches by The Crawford Six Studio! Bring some mossy magic indoors for a dreamy candlelit dinner, or keep them by your entryway to let the fae folk know that they’re welcome.

Maybe you’re looking for a DIY-on-a-budget for the Halloween season: this amazing tutorial on how to distress glass bottles by The Kim Six Fix is so clever! It’s super easy to turn =cheap glass vases and bottles into enchanted potion bottles or witchy brews. The possibilities of what you can create with them is up to your imagination—the sky’s the limit!

Small accessories are perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to your life, even if you can’t plan any elaborate festivities for the spooky season. This  “Message in a Bottle” necklace by Malou Koldenhof has us dreaming of fantastic pirate voyages and hidden treasures. This whimsical bottle pendant is filled with glow-in-the-dark sand, seashells, and a tiny little treasure map. Too cute!

If you’re still dreaming of the sea, and clever with a sewing machine, how about making your own fleece mermaid tail blanket for your little one and her doll? The many examples Megan from Made For Mermaids has are so clever—there are even options to make shark tails for mer-boys! The free digital pattern and easy-to-follow instructions make creating these mystical blankets a breeze. They would make excellent gifts for the upcoming chilly winter ahead!
