Blue tone on tone tablescape by Mud Australia

Tablescape from Mud Australia

This month we are looking into a subtle design trend–tone on tone. Slight shifts and color nuances add depth to a tabletop, make an outfit look perfectly chic or add texture and dimension to a subtle throw pillow.

First up, we have Mud Australia; a lovely and perfectly simple artisanal porcelain company started in 1994 and based in Sydney. They offer a wide range of perfectly modern colors in matte finishes.

Nashville based clothing company, Elizabeth Suzann is the reigning go-to choice for easy to wear, chic clothing made from natural fibers. A big proponent of tone on tone dressing, a lot of ES pieces can be paired with other items in the line made from the same fabric.

I love this intro to tone on tone dressing (and inspiration) from December’s Harper’s Bazaar.

This fun video about arm knitting a very chunky pillow from Ohhio is a fun way to incorporate oversized texture into a tone on tone decor scheme (think white pillow, sheepskin throw on a white smooth slipcover).

To see more of tone on tone interiors, there’s this fantastic blog on a tiny renovation project by Melbourne based interior firm, Bicker Design. Warm wood and natural linen make the project feel comfortable and welcoming without being too overwhelming with loud colors or contrasting pattern.
